How To Check Matric Results Online In South Africa

Waiting for your Matric results can be a really exciting time for learners. Once you have completed your Grade 12 exams, you will want to know how you did.

Luckily there are ways to look up your results using official educational resources. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) offer a Matric result service online, or you can get your Statement of Results from your school.

Below we outline how to look up your Matric results online, what you need and what to do if you cannot see your results.

When Will 2026 Matric Results Be Released?

The National Senior Certificate exams will take place in October and November 2026.

The DBE has not yet confirmed when the official results will be released. As of 30 October 2026.

Make sure to keep an eye on your DBE news. It is best to rely on official news from the DBE and Provincial Education Departments.

You can check the official department website:

1. What You Need

Before looking up your results, make sure you have:

Your exam number

Something to access the internet e.g. Phone, Tablet or Computer.

Ensure you have your exam number. This is needed to look up your results and to contact your exam centre.

Never give any personal information to unknown people who claim to look up your results for you.

The Department of Basic Education offer a service which allows full-time November National Senior Certificate learners to look up their results online.

To do this:

 3. How To Get Your Statement Of Results

Whilst looking up your results online can be helpful, you may also need an official Statement Of Results.

According to the South African Government, learners will be able to get their Statement Of Results from January from the school/exam centre.

Contact your school/exam centre to see when and how you can get your statement.

Ensure you keep your statement safe. You may need it when applying for further studies, bursaries etc.

 4. What To Do If You Cannot See Your Matric Results Online

Sometimes your results may not be available due to technical issues or administration issues.

Do not immediately assume you have failed.

Check that you have entered your exam number correctly.

Wait until the issue with the website is sorted.

Contact your school/exam centre.

If needed, contact your district or Provincial Education Department.

Ask the exam office to look into it.

The DBE recommend contacting your exam centre or district/provincial office if you cannot see your results.

 5. Can Part-Time Learners Look Up Their Results Online?

The official information provided by the DBE does not include every learner.

According to the South African Governments Matric results service, part-time NSC learners will need to contact their exam centre to get their results.

If you are a part-time learner, contact your exam centre.

 6. What To Do Once You Have Seen Your Results

Once you have seen your results you may want to start thinking about your next steps.

Depending on your results and career goals you may want to:

Apply to a University or TVET College.

Look for available bursaries and scholarships.

Look for learnerships and skills development.

Consider vocational or technical training.

Contact your institution to see what their entry requirements are.
